This cruising guide reflects on the experience of  members of a club that has been in existence since 1894. First published in 1972 and still a best seller twenty five years later, this guide covers the north eastern areas of the Shaky Isles from the Three Kings to Cape Kidnappers. This is New Zealand’s most widely used guide, covering the popular cruising grounds of the North Island’s east coast, and written by members of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland. The contents include all coastal bays, anchorages, and harbours, along with all offshore-lying islands. Each bay is accompanied by a hand-drawn map indicating depths, dangers and navigational information. A guide to which bays are sheltered in which winds is included along with the nature of the sea bed, degree of holding, onshore facilities, and points of historical interest. Every boat cruising these waters should have one.
