THE MARLINSPIKE SAILOR
by Hervey Garrett Smith

This book does teach a few basic knots and how to splice three-strand and braided rope but it's main purpose is practical and decorative rope work and canvas work. A rope ladder, a canvas bucket, a mast boot, rope fenders, a heaving line are among the many practical items this book shows the reader how to make. First published in 1956 Hervey updated it in 1971. In many respects it is an old fashioned but to those sailors interested in rope and improving their vessels then this book has a wealth of hints on how to do it.

CONTENTS

This book does not have chapters as such. It is pages of projects, profusely illustrated by the author with way to much for me to type out a list of.
