Bermuda 385

This new kit boat, designed in conjunction with Almarine, kit boat specialists of Holland, is based on our highly successful Roberts 370D many of which are sailing the oceans of the world. This new design is available in kit form only and not as plans for construction from scratch. The BE385 is slightly longer than the R370 and we have taken the opportunity to highten the cabin roof to give a greater feeling of spaciousness below.  Please be aware that the aft cabin in this design does not quite achieve full headroom. The Study plans set for this design is only $48.00 plus postage.

Alloy BE385

Below is a letter recieved from the builder

Attached is a couple of pictures taken when the boat was moved outside to allow it to be raised high enough to attach the keel, skeg and rudder. I did make a couple of modification from the original plans; the visor over the pilot house windows was removed, cockpit footwell narrowed, seats lengthened,  walk thru transom and bowsprit added. I still have to grind, sand and repair external welds but will wait until spring. My goal now is to add the keel, skeg, hatches, windows etc to seal it up so I can work on it this winter. I plan fixed windows for the pilot house and opening portholes. Do you have any suggestions or  sources for the portholes that will fit the precut holes. Everyone I've talked to so far said they can't handle an curvature.

PS: Another advantage of aluminum. Able to move the boat with a jeep and hay wagon running gear

Steel BE385

Above are photo's of a BE385 being built in steel under construction. All these kits are designed to be built upright in the cradle provided. The cradle can be clearly seen in the first picture. Note how neatly all the plates fit together.
